NEOMA LEE PATTEN, 86

Neoma Lee Patten, age 86 of Auburn, California, formerly Brooklyn, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2017, at the Lakeview Terrace Senior Care Facility in Auburn, California. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2018, at the Michael J. Manatt Community Center, Brooklyn. A private burial service will be held at the Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Neoma may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, Office of Development, 2900 North Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Florida, 33607. Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn is assisting the family with arrangements.

Neoma is survived by her sons, Patrick of Auburn, CA, Curtis of Atkinson, IL, and Christopher of Auburn, CA; a daughter-in-law, Donna Patten; a sister, Karen (Katie) Kriegel Moore; brother-in-law, John Moore; sister-in-law, Patricia Kriegel; four grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She will also be lovingly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins an dear friends. She was preceded in death by husband Orval in 1983; two sons, Michael and David; her parents; and two brothers, Norman and Charles.

Neoma was born October 12, 1930, in Brooklyn, where she spent her childhood. She is the daughter of Balzer and Theodosia Newton Kriegel. On January 20, 1951, Neoma married Orval Earnest Patten also from Brooklyn. They were the parents of five sons. The Pattens lived in several Iowa, Illinois and Nebraska communities. Following Orval's death, Neoma and her youngest son moved from Illinois to California.

Neoma was a devoted mother and homemaker. She was most proud of her family, and was a loving "Gram" to her four grandchildren, and "Grammy" to her nine great-grandchildren. Neoma was an avid golfer that distinguished her play having scored a hole in one, and was the president of the Geneseo, Illinois, women's golf league. She also enjoyed bowling, bridge and spending time with family and friends.
