Miss Violet Stewart, of Deep River, came to Colfax three weeks ago last Friday night to attend a social party at the home of J. Campbell three miles north of town.
The Howard Inghram bus line had charge of taking guests out and back and on the return trip the car which Mr. Inghram was driving was struck at the Interurban crossing on North Walnut street and demolished, injuring all the passengers, among whom was Miss Stewart.
After the accident she was taken to the Centropolis Sanitarium and cared for, her sister from Des Moines being with her.
She was seriously injured and there was doubt from the first if she could recover, but for two weeks she hung by the slender thread and friends hoped she might get by.
On Saturday evening an unexpected hemorrhage came and in fifteen minutes Miss Stewart was over the harbor bar and out to sea on her last voyage. The remains were taken to Deep River Sunday.
