VERDA GREENE RITES TODAY

Mrs. Verda E. Greene, 66, widow of Van O. Greene, died Friday evening at Grinnell General Hospital. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today at the Mount Moriah Church in Dows, Iowa, with burial at the Mount Moriah Cemetery.

The daughter of Austin and Maggie Overturff Nutt, she was born April 19, 1909, on a farm north of Dows, where she lived until moving to Grinnell 10 years ago. She married to Van O. Greene on Feb. 21, 1929. Mrs. Greene had been a member of the Mount Moriah Church in Dows, and for the last 10 years was a member of the Church of Christ, Grinnell.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth Bates of Stockton, Kan., and Mrs. Harold Whitaker of Grinnell, and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1961 and a sister, Lillie Eaves.
