RITES HELD FOR MR. TAYLOR

Leland A. Taylor, 74, of Rte. 1, Grinnell, died Sunday, March 22, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Paul Crist of the Christian Church of Winigan, Mo., officiating. Organist was Kathleen Heffner.

Pallbearers were Jack Dancer, Billy Gilbreaith, Raymon Gruhn, Larry Manning, Harry Taylor and Earl Yanecek. Honorary bearers were Stan Ashby, Larry Barnes, Earl Lemke and Allan Moyer.

Burial was in Rock Creek Cemetery. Memorials in Mr. Taylor's name may be left at the funeral home.

The son of L.G. and Marie Caldona Straley Taylor, he was born on Jan. 4, 1913, in Sullivan County, Mo. He attended rural school there, then assisted on the family farm before moving to the Rock Creek area in 1934.

On Aug. 25, 1936, he was married to Thelma M. Durr at Unionville, Mo. The couple lived in the Rock Creek area until 1953 when they moved to Kellogg. Mr. Taylor was employed by Kellogg Lumber and later as a die-setter at Midwest Manufacturing Co. He was a member of the Kellogg Masonic Lodge.

Surviving are two daughters, Shirlee Murphy of Marshalltown, and Joyce Gilbreaith of Grinnell; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nine brothers, Gilbert of Grinnell, Porter of Biloxi, Miss., Wylie of Novinger, Mo., R.O. of Kansas City, Mo., Lewis of Rolla, Mo., Clarence of Marshalltown, Tom of Lancaster, M o., Grover of Kirksville, Mo., and Lloyd of Kirskville; four sisters, Cynthia Belles of Chicago, Ill., Anna Mae Featehringle of Fort Madison, Edna Coudron of Ottumwa and Emily Hoffert of Calmar.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
