HUTCHISON
RITES CONDUCTED

Carl Hutchison, 83, a former Grinnell resident, died Aug. 29 at Portland, Ore., following a stroke.

He was born in Iowa, graduating from Grinnell College in 1932. He was married to Lydia Curtis of Grinnell, and the couple owned a toy and bicycle shop in Portland.

A World War I veteran, Mr. Hutchison was a 53-year member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of Al Kadar Shrine. He was named a patron of Phi Beta.

Survivors include a son, Deane of Portland, and two sisters, Zula Bailey of West Liberty and Mildred Vulysteke of Iowa City. He was preceded in death by his wife, four brothers and five sisters.

Burial was at Lincoln Memorial Park, Portland.
