LAST RITES FOR
CLYDE GILBREAITH
ARE HELD FRIDAY

Funeral services for Clyde O. Gilbreaith, Grinnell businessman, were held Friday afternoon from Smith Funeral Home with Rev. E.E. Beattie, minister of the United Presbyterian church officiating.

Mr. Gilbreaith died suddenly of a heart attack while at work at his service station last Tuesday. He was 40 years old.

At the final rites, flower bearers were Mrs. Shirley Rice and Mrs. Norma Phillips and pallbearers weer Joe Buffum, Francis Barkley, Harold Dimit, Bob Henderson, Gerald McCurry and Earl Miller. Burial was in Jackson cemetery at Montezuma.

Music was by Mrs. Rhee Auman with Rms. Maynard Long, soloist.

Native and lifelong resident of Poweshiek county, Gilbreaith had resided in Grinnell since 1937 and had operated the Colonial Oil Station, 6th and Broad, for the past six years.

Born in Jackson township, Nov. 15, 1914, he was the son of David W. and Bessie Grier Gilbreaith. He was married Oct. 5, 1933 at Montezuma to Doris Strong.

A veteran of World War II, he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Bessie Gilbreaith; his wife, Doris; four children, Bill, Joan Kay, Gary Dean and Richard Dale, all of Grinnell; a grandson, Billy David of Grinnell; five sisters, Mrs. Edgar (Naomi) Sanders of Montezuma, Mrs. Francis (Dorothy) Klaus of Grinnell, Mrs. Camiel (Eula Mae) Van Tomme of Brooklyn, Mrs. Melvin (Vina) Hahn of Victor, and Mrs. Delmar (Ruth) James of Cedar Rapids; and two brothers, Earl and Virgil of Grinnell.
