ROBERT PIERSON

Robert Howard Pierson, 78, of 127 Fulton Dr., Hendersonville, N.C. 28739, died Saturday, Jan. 21, 1898, at Kailua, Hawaii. The son of the late Will and Mabel Pierson, he was a native of Brooklyn, Ia. He graduated from Southern College of S.D.A. in Collegedale, Tn., 1933, and was awarded the Dr. of Divinity - Andrews Unv. Berrian Springs, 1966. He was employed by General Conference of S.D.A. in Washington, D.C. for 12 1/2 years retiring in 1979 as president.

He frequently attended Fletcher Seventh Day Advent Church. He authored some 30 books and articles.

He is survived by his wife, Dollis Pierson; two sons, Dr. John Duane Pierson, Clearwater, Fla., and Dr. Robert Pierson, Berrien Springs, Mi.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, John B. Pierson, Whit Well, Tenn.; and two sisters, Ruth Torrance, Fletcher, N.C., and Genevieve Patterson, Franklin, N.C.

Funeral Services were held at the Fletcher Seventh Day Advent Church at 1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 26. Burial was in Shepherd Memorial Park at Hendersonville, N.C.

Thos. Shepherd & Son, Inc., were in charge of arrangements.
