RITES HELD FOR MRS. JOHNSON

Colleen E. Johnson, 58, of Milan, Ill., and Lake Ponderosa near Montezuma died Friday, Sept. 25, at Moline Public Hospital in Moline, Ill.

Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Watts Funeral Home in Montezuma, with Robert Sauber of the Church of Christ of Rock Island, Ill., and Bill Ell of the West Liberty Church of Christ officiating. Pallbearers were Tom Dawson, David Pearce, Max Reynolds, Justin Pearce, Brad Johnson and Jim Farrington.

Burial was in West Liberty Cemetery.

The daughter of Alfred and Dena Van Hoever Tish, she was born on Dec. 27, 1928, on a farm near Montezuma. She graduated from Montezuma High School.

On June 29, 1947, she was married to Max LaVerne Johnson in New Sharon.

She had been involved in a research program for nine years at Duke University in Durham, N.C., and was employed as a nurse's aide at Mahaska Hospital in Oskaloosa from 1959 to 1962. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Rock Island.

Survivors include her husband; her daughters, Barbara Jean Pearce of Gladstone, Mo., Carol Anne Reynolds of Gibson and Virginia Dawson of Taylor Ridge, Ill.; her sons, Maynard of Milan and Douglas of Columbus, Ohio; two foster sons, Jeff Mullens of Norwood, Ohio and Kevin Mullens of Ridgecrest, Calif.; her mother, Dena Tish of Montezuma; one sister, Norma Jean Farrington of Montezuma; a brother, Earl Tish of Newton; and 14 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father and two grandchildren.
