The following obituary notice of Samuel Hough, who died from a cancer at Harvey, Ill., on Feb. 26, is taken from the Harvey Tribune-Citizen.
"Samuel Hough was born in Ireland township, Megantic county, Quebec, Can., March 8, 1837. He went to Grinnell, Ia., when a young man and removed to Harvey in 1890. John Hough, his nephew, with whom deceased lived during his last days, lost his father when a small by and in 1882 his mother and youngest sister were killed in a cyclone that visited Grinnell. Since that time John and his uncle have been together.
Samuel Hough was a good citizen, industrious, honest, and thrifty. Though he had few intimate friends, all were friendly to him and respected him for his sterling worth as a citizen. By close attention to business and careful investments of his earnings he gained a competency."
