INEZ LEONA KIMM

Inez Leona Kimm, 87, of Iowa City and formerly of Grinnell, died at Mercy Hospital Hospice in Iowa City on Friday, Nov. 2, 2012.

Funeral services were held Nov. 7 at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City, and burial was at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Mercy Hospital Foundation for Mercy Hospice or Atrium Village.

She was born Dec. 19, 1924, in Oxford, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Arta Austin. She went to school in Williamsburg, and later graduated from Grinnell High School. She moved to Iowa City and worked for the U.S. Navy, then attended beauty school in Des Moines along with her sister Audrey Austin Oltrogge. She married Dale Kimm from Iowa City on Sept. 3, 1947.

She began her career as a cosmetologist in 1944, and continued tending to her clients' needs until her health no longer allowed her to do so. She was a member of the National Hairdressers Association, First United Methodist Church and the Coralville American Legion. She also enjoyed camping, boating and doing needlework.

She is survived by her son Kevin Kimm of Iowa City; a brother, Arlo Vaughn Austin of Arlington, Texas; two sisters, Irene Terrazas of Santa Fe, N.M., and Audrey Oltrogge of Grinnell; and three granddaughters.

Inez was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Wayne Austin and Clyde Austin; and a son, Terrance Kimm.
