JUDITH R. MCCULLEY

Judith R. McCulley, 71, of Grinnell, died on Monday, July 24, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 29, 2017, at the United Methodist Church in Grinnell with Rev. Len Eberhart officiating. Organist will be Juli Bey. Casket Bearers will be Joshua Burns, Nick Kinnaird, Curt Kinnaird, Brian Kinnaird, Dave Kinnaird and Tom Moyer. Honorary Bearers will be Lea and Levi McCulley. Interment will be at the Rock Creek Cemetery near Grinnell.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell beginning 12 noon on Friday and the family will be present at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Should friends desire, memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Hospital and sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home, P.O. Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112.

Judy was born on September 27, 1945 in Wesley, Iowa to Donald and Hattie Mae (Benskin) Kinnaird White. She attended rural school in Searsboro, Iowa and later graduated with the Class of 1964 from Grinnell High School.

On December 7, 1968, she was married to Roger McCulley in Kirksville, Missouri. Judy and Roger made their home in Grinnell, where she was a homemaker and mother of two children, Cathy and Danny. Later, she was employed at Thermogas, Carl Anderson and Hall's Motor Supply Company. Prior to her retirement in 2000, she worked as a bookkeeper for Arnold Motor Supply Company.

Judy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Grinnell and an attendant of the United Methodist Church of Grinnell. She enjoyed reading, bowling, walking and watching college football, basketball and baseball events. She was an avid fan of he Iowa Hawkeyes and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Judy was very proud of her children, and above all, she treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Roger McCulley of Grinnell; one daughter, Cathy Burns of Grinnell; one son, Danny (Jina) McCulley of Papillion, Nebraska; three grandchildren, Joshua Burns and Lea and Levi McCulley; and four brothers, Wendell (Jean) Kinnaird of Grinnell, Earl (Pam) Kinnaird of Grinnell, Bill (Shirley) Kinnaird of Grimes, and Jerry (Pat) Kinnaird of Salina Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her two sisters, Donna Grovenburg and Joan (her twin sister) Moyer; and one brother, Wayne Kinnaird.
