FARMER SUCCUMBS

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Gilman Methodist church for Oscar H. Sawyer, 74-year-old resident of that community who died at his home Monday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Sawyer had returned to Gilman from Arizona only last Saturday.

Officiating at the services will be the Rev. Norman Kauble, pastor of the church. Burial will be in Prairie View cemetery at Gilman.

Born April 21st, 1886, in Poweshiek county, he was the son of Oliver and Inger Somme Sawyer. He received his education and grew to manhood in Chester township.

He was married to Elsie Lidtka on Sept. 25th, 1918, and they farmed southeast of Gilman until 1953 when they retired and moved to Gilman. Mr. Sawyer was a member of the Methodist church there.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie; one son, Robert of Rialto, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Virgil Paul of Gilman, Mrs. Herbert Flower of Safford, Ariz., and Mrs. Angelo Bagnoli of Tempe, Ariz. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren and three sisters.

Mr. Sawyers was preceded in death by two brothers.
