MARTIN A. HEALY
DIES AT LOCAL
HOSPITAL MONDAY

Martin A. Healy, 83, of 1216 Elm St., Grinnell, passed away Monday morning at a local hospital following a brief illness.

Mr. Healy had been in failing health for the past three years. He was the son of Martin and Alice Dorgan Healy and was born October 1, 1879, at Ganger, Iowa. He attended the public schools of Granger and later the family moved to South Dakota.

He was united in marriage with Nellie Moore at Mt. Vernon, S. Dak., on March 1, 1916. To this union were born four children: Mrs. Arnold (Mary) Schulte of Grinnell; Mrs. Kent (Margaret) Wise of Grinnell; Mr. Joseph P. Healy of Salina, Kansas; and Mrs. Martin (Barbara) Reiser of Davenport, Iowa.

Healy lived in South Dakota for 52 years and farmed near Mitchell. He and Mrs. Healy moved to Grinnell three years ago to make their home near their children. Mr. Healy was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church and an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers and sisters: Charles, Anna, Alice, Mary, Catherine and Joe Healy, and Sister Mary Emma, BVM. He is survived by his widow Nellie at the family home; his four children, and six grandchildren, as well as a brother, Frank C. Healy, of Des Moines.

Requiem high mass for Martin A. Healy will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic church with the Rev. Leo V. Kuebrich, pastor of St. Mary's church, officiating. Burial will be in Granger. Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home.
