BARNES CITY LODGE

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. May 26 at the Steffy Funeral Home for Gerald L. Dalbey, by the Rev. William Morehouse of the Barnes City Methodist church. Mrs. William Landstrum played the musical selections and accompanied Lester Steele as he sang "Old Rugged Cross" and "Ivy Towers."

Interment was in the Barnes City cemetery. Casket bearers were Harold Lester, Carl Speas, Everett McClure, Alfred Graham, Henry Doonan and Paul Konecny.

Gerald, son of Blanche and Warren Dalbey, was born at New Sharon Oct. 6, 1911. He died May 26 at his home in Des Moines at the age of 51 years. He was united in marriage with Coral Darland and to this union three sons were born.

They established their home in Barnes City where he was in the trucking business with an uncle. Later he farmed and worked for the Barnes City Elevator. He then was foreman of the Mapleton, Minn., elevator for seven years. The past four years he has resided in Des Moines where he operated two self service laundries and a hobby shop.

While in Barnes City he became a member of the Masonic Lodge and worked up to become its master. He also was quite active in church and community affairs.

Surviving are his wife of the home; three sons, Denton, Barnes City; Donovan, Big Springs, Texas, and Noel, Denver, Colo.; seven grandchildren, his mother, Mrs. Blanche Mateer, Oskaloosa; Grandfather Dalbey, also of Oskaloosa; two step sisters, a step brother, other relatives and a host of friends.
