FUNERAL SERVICE
HELD TUESDAY

Funeral service for Elmer Green, prominent farmer in the Deep River-Barnes City area, was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, at the Barnes City Christian church, conducted by the Rev. Davis Brown, Corydon, formerly of Barnes City. Mrs. Ed. Kerwin played the funeral music and accompanied Mrs. Wayne Pitman and Ed. Kerwin who sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond the Sunset."

Interment was in the Barnes City cemetery under direction of the Steffy Funeral Home. Casket bearers were Otto Steffen, Paul Hudnut, Dale Montgomery, Wallace Brenniman, Oliver Hudnut and Harold Ehret.

Elmer, son of William and Clara Green, was born on Aug. 19, 1903, in Keokuk county and died at the Mahaska hospital, Oskaloosa, Jan. 29, at 57 years of age.

He was united in marriage with Lillie Hutton, on Dec. 30, 1925, to this union three children were born, Hubert, Dayton, Ohio; Mrs. Betty Gerard and Mrs. Maxine Mouchka, both of Grinnell.

He has spent most of his life farming in the Deep River-Barnes City area.

Besides his wife and children, he is survived by five grandchildren: Roger Lee Mouchka, Debbie Ann and Angela Kay Gerard, Linda Lee and Cynthia Ann Green; his mother, Mrs. Clara Green; a sister, Mrs. Harold Hutton, both of Highland Center; other relatives and many friends.
