BERNIECE MASON RITES THURSDAY

Berniece Mason, 62, of Newburg died of cancer Monday, July 28, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Philip J. Ramstad, pastor of the United Church of Christ-Congregational, officiating. Organist was Betty Ann Battey. Pallbearers were Ron Hendrickson, John Hendrickson, Warren King, Jim Slebiska, Darrell Templeton and Bill Webb.

Burial was in the Chester Cemetery. Memorials in Mrs. Mason's name may be made to Grinnell General Hospital or the Newburg Congregational Church.

The daughter of Miler and Nellie Barnhouse Wilson, she was born on Dec. 24, 1923, at Gilman. She was a graduate of Newburg High School.

On March 8, 1943, she was married to Robert Mason at Miles, Iowa. The couple lived and farmed in the Chester community Mrs. Mason was employed by General Telephone of the Midwest for 17 years, retiring in 1985 because of ill health.

She was a member of the Newburg Congregational United Church of Christ, the American Legion Auxiliary of Gilman, and the Grinnell Lady Elks.

Survivors include two sons, William R. of rural Grinnell and Thomas C. of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one granddaughter; two sisters, Ida Hendrickson of rural Grinnell and Vida King of Conrad; and two brothers, William Wilson of Marshalltown and Marvin Wilson of Davenport.
