SHIRLEY HARRELSON

Shirley Ann (Wahner) Harrelson, the daughter of Alfred and Pearl Mae (Workman) Wahner, was born July 17, 1934, in Grinnell, Iowa. She was united in marriage with Joe Harrelson on Aug. 8, 1987, in Marshalltown, Iowa. Shirley worked in the factory at the Maytag Company for 27 years, retiring in 1992. Shirley was a member of the UAW Local 997 and the Women of the Moose. She enjoyed bowling, gardening and canning, making jam, fishing, and spending time with her family.

Shirley died on Monday, Sept. 19, 2011, at Skiff Hospice's Monarch Wing in Newton. She was 77. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, David Robson and Allen Robson; step-daughter, Rebecca Mavin; three sisters, Verna Harbin, Vera Van Wyngarden and Dorothy Fleener; and two brothers, Richard Wahner and Alfred Wahner.

Those left to honor Shirley's memory include her husband, Joe of Montezuma; her son, John Robson (Cheri Montelone) of Grinnell; daughter, Diane Hengemuehler (Roger Heinle) of Minneapolis, Minn.; three step-sons: Dennis (Linda) Harrelson and family of Newton, Kenneth Michael (Debbie) Harrelson and family of Marshalltown, and Roger Harrelson and family of Malcom; her step-son-in-law, Tom Mavin and family of Greenwater, Wash.; her grandchildren Stacy Meyer (Darron Halfacre) of Golden Prairie, Ill., Scott Innis of Mankato, Minn., Summer Flores of Minnetonka, Minn., and Michelle (Justin) Lambert of Newton; her great-grandchirlen, Star, Nyssa, Auston, Dominic, Katelyn and Allison; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
