DOLLIE SARAH E. FELTON, 104

Mrs. Dollie Sarah E. Felton, 104, of Brooklyn, died Friday, May 19, 2006, in Friendship Manor Care Center, Grinnell.

Dollie Sarah Elizabeth Miller Felton, daughter of Eli Henry Miller and Lois Ellen Simpson Miller was born February 10, 1902, in Madison County.

She attended rural schools and Truro Public School from which she graduated in 1920. Mrs. Felton attended summer schools at Simpson College and Des Moines University. She was a teacher for 19 yrs.

Dollie married Merrill W. Felton, a barber, on July 10, 1922, at Newton. They established their home in Ladora in 1923. The first year they were married she taught at the Uhl School, rural Brooklyn, and then taught in the Ladora School. In 1950, they moved to Victor, where she worked at Bloethe's Law Office for almost twenty-five years. In 1989, she moved to Brooklyn. She did lots of sewing for herself, family and friends.

Mrs. Felton was a member of the New Convenant United Methodist Church of Victor and card clubs until her eyesight failed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1974; two brothers Clyde W. Miller and Earl H. (Phil) Miller; six sisters, Edwina Miller, Reva Morris, Florence Creger, Mary Barker, Mid Hawkins, and Zola Munson Murphy; a son-in-law, William C. Clayton; and a great granddaughter, Emma Clayton Butcher.

Surviving are her daughter, Mary Ellen Clayton of Brooklyn; three grandchildren, Kenneth C. Clayton and wife Ellen of Winston Salem, N.C., Lee Ann Clayton of Spicer, Minn., and Michael W. Clayton of West Point, N.Y.; two great grandsons, Benjamin and Adam Clayton.

Funeral services for Mrs. Felton were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23, at the Nevenhoven Funeral Home, Brooklyn. Mr. Dennis Smith, Minister of the Madison Church of Christ officiated. The musician was Dotty Hall. Honorary casket-bearers were Dollie's nephew and Orville & Loanna Bloethe. Casket-bearers were family members and Randy Read. Interment was in Victor Memorial Cemetery at Victor. A memorial fund has been established for Macular Degeneration Research at the University of Iowa Foundation or Grinnell Hospice.
