WALTER OLIVER, 50,
DIES SUDDENLY

Walter Carless Oliver, 50, Rte. 2, died suddenly Thursday afternoon at his home. Although his death was unexpected, he had not been in the best of health for several months.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. C.E. Kingsley officiating. Organist will be Mrs. Esther Auman.

Pallbearers will be Carl Prince, Everett Grimm, Walter Miller, Waldo McGriff, Webb Wallace and Bob Breiting. Interment will be in Hazelwood cemetery.

Mr. Oliver was the son of William and Isabelle Pickering Oliver and was born June 6th, 1909 near Unionville, Mo. He attended the rural schools near his home and in 1928 moved to Grinnell.

He was united in marriage with Margaret Anderson on Aug. 16th, 1940 at Newton. To this union were born two daughters: Mrs. Richard (Beverly) Claussen of Grinnell and Delores Oliver at the family home.

Survivors include his father, wife and daughters; two brothers, Denvil Oliver, Sr., of Grinnell and Maywood Oliver of Middletown, Ohio; and one sister, Mrs. Farrell Reynolds of Springfield, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his mother in 1956 and one grandchild in 1959.

When in better health, Mr. Oliver was employed as an automobile mechanic.
