DOROTHY SOLEM

Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Solem, 68, of Brooklyn, were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, in the Nevenhoven Funeral Home, Brooklyn. Mrs. Solem died Friday evening, March 28, 1985, in the Brookhaven Nursing Home, Brooklyn.

Rev. Fr. Karl Holtkamp, pastor of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, officiated. Mrs. Marilyn Kriegel was the organist. Flower attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Tom Eggert and Mr. an Mrs. Stan Ochs. Casket-bearers were Dennis Cram, Harold Morden, G.J. Manatt, Tom Hollopeter, Bernard Kriegel, and Dan McConnell. Interment was in the IOOF Cemetery, Brooklyn.

Dorothy Arp Morden Solem, daughter of Wilbur Bert and Daisy Thede Morden, was born Oct. 20, 1916, in Tipton, Ia. She received her education in Tipton graduating from the Tipton High School.

On Aug. 27, 1945, in Cedar rapids, Ia., she was united in marriage to Marvin Leonard Solem of Hadley, Minn. They moved to Brooklyn in 1960 where they made their home since.

She is survived by her husband, Marvin; one son and his wife, Dennis and Ruth Solem of Brooklyn; one brother, Harold "Bud" Morden of Tipton; five sisters, Mrs. Pauline "Dutch" Rupe of Tipton, Mrs. Martha "Marty" Bieth of Mason City, Mrs. Florence "Flo" Lightfoot of East Liverpool, Ohio, Mrs. Arleen "Tony" Kenney of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Helen Mathew of Barrington, Ill,; and two grandsons, Travis and Lukas Solem, Brooklyn.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
