DORIS SIMPSON SERVICES HELD

Doris E. Simpson, 63, died at her home of an apparent heart attack early Sunday, April 10.

Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Douglas P. Harding, associate pastor of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, officiating. Organist was Kathleen Heffner. Pallbearers were Dale Adkins, Howard Cook, Marvel DeJong, Cliff Duncan, Don Morton, George Roe, Richard Roe and Lawrence Vitera.

Burial was at Hazelwood Cemetery.

The daughter of James Terry and Mary Grace Halterman Simpson, she was born June 5, 1919, at Ferney, S.D. She moved with her family to Grinnell and attended Grinnell schools, graduating from Grinnell High School in 1938. She was a telephone operator for General Telephone Co. for 26 years, retiring in 1981. She was a member of the O.B.C. Club and attended the Grinnell United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her mother, Grace Simpson of Grinnell, and three sisters, Betty Plander of Marshalltown, Helen Arnold of Plano, Texas, and Marilyn Bonyata of Crystal Lake, Ill. She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Robert James Simpson.
