AN OBITUARY OF
MRS. EMMA STRONG

The angel of death came to call Mrs. Amelia Meesz Strong from her home six miles southwest of Montezuma on March 15, 1932. On June 4 while she was attending a quilting club at Henry Sheeley's she suffered a stroke of paralysis which left her an invalid until she was taken ill about ten days ago which developed into pneumonia, and at 6:30 Tuesday evening she left this earthly home.

The deceased was the daughter of Peter and Caroline Meesz. She was born in Calhoun county, Illinois, Nov. 26, 1873, and passed away at the age of 58 years, 3 months and 18 days.

March 13, 1894, she was united in marriage to John Strong at Malcom, Iowa. They have made their home near Malcom and Montezuma all of their life.

She leaves to mourn her loss her devoted husband, and her five children, who were all at her bedside when the end came: Glen at home, Della Roberts of Grinnell, Rena Hamilton of Ewart, Vada Whitehead of Barnes City, Aleta Simpson of Montezuma. Four grandchildren, Lucile, Clifford, Roberta and Warren Roberts.

Three sisters, Mrs. Josephine Strong of Lone Tree, Mrs. Matilda Schmitt of West Liberty, Edith Meesz of Lone Tree. Two brothers, George and Edward of Lone Tree. Her parents and two brothers preceded her in death.

She was baptized in infancy and at the age of fifteen she was confirmed in the Lutheran church. She was a woman of sterling qualities, a loving mother, and a sincere kind friend to everyone. The news of her death brings a shock to the entire neighborhood.
