PAULINE ICENBICE

Pauline Icenbice, 86, of Deep River died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011, at the Marengo Memorial Hospital in Marengo. Mass of a Christian Burial was held at 10L:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 29, at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in North English. Interment was in the Armah Cemetery near Millersburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Pauline Frances Icenbice, daughter of Jacob and Sarah (Pfiester) Rank was born on Nov. 5, 1924, in Keswick. She graduated from Keswick High School in 1942 and received her teaching certificate from William Penn University. She married Max Donald Icenbice in Armah. To this union five children were born, Michael, Anita, Joseph, Thomas and Barbara Ann. Pauline taught school for a few years and then later became a nurse's aide for Poweshiek County Home and Montezuma Nursing Home.

She is survived by her two children, Joseph (Lisa Clemens) Icenbice of Deep River and Anita (Ray) LeGrand of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren: Michael, Matthew, Wendy Jo and Andrew Icenbice; six great-grandchildren: Max, Molly, Keaton, Jason, Madilyn and Lacy.

Pauline is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Max; two sons, Michael Icenbice and Thomas Icenbice; a daughter, Barbara Ann Icenbice; a grandson, David Icenbice; a brother, Lloyd Rank; and eight sisters, Mable Cochran, Rena Schwer, Hazel Kron, Marvel Greiner, Mary Cogswell, Verna Myron, Doris Rank and Josephine Elick.
