Walter Provin, 79, of Victor, a former mayor of the community, died of an apparent heart ailment Thursday, March 29, at his home.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the Victor United Methodist Church, with burial in Victor Memorial Cemetery.
A 25-year employee of Amana Refrigeration, retiring in 1976, Mr. Provin was elected mayor for three terms, serving from 1980 through 1985. Major public works projects were accomplished during his tenure, including a new water distribution and softening system.
He was a member of the Victor United Methodist Church and the American Legion.
Surviving are his wife, Paulene; a daughter, Marlene Baustian of Brooklyn; a son, Keith of Coralville; one grandson; and two sisters, Pearl Rauch of Thornburg and Opal Morrison of Brooklyn.
Memorials in Mr. Provin's name may be left at the McAninch-Fremming Funeral Home in Victor.
