Date Gregson, for many years a prominent figure in county politics, died Monday in New Sharon at an advanced age, following a lingering illness.

Mr. Gregson served Poweshiek county as sheriff for four years, 1920-24, and for eight years following was in the sheriff's office as deputy to his son Bob, until the latter was defeated by "Dinty" Mulcahy. Prior to his election as sheriff he lived in Grinnell and served for a time as chief of police.

Funeral services were held in Searsboro Wednesday afternoon.
