ON MONDAY FOR
MRS. MARY HUGHES

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary E. Hughes, 91, a resident of the Mayflower Home here for the past six years, were held Monday afternoon at the Hartland Friends church near Marshalltown.

Mrs. Hughes died Saturday at her home. She had been in failing health for the last six months.

Officiating at the services was the Rev. Max Strang. Pallbearers were Cecil Ware, Russell Tomlinson, Howard Lander, William Sharer, Rufus Hoffman and Melvin Wantz. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Hughes was the daughter of George and Abigail Tinkler and was born April 16th, 1870 in Jarrow, England. She was married to John A. Hughes on June 20th, 1896 and they came to the United States in 1910.

A minister, Mr. Hughes served churches at Grand Meadow, Sleepy Eye, and Sandstone, Minn., and at Hartland. He preceded her in death on Oct. 1st, 1954.

She is survived by one son, J.A. Hughes of Forest Lake, Minn.; a daughter, Mrs. John Nold of Marshalltown; four sisters in England and one sister in Australia; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
