TAKES HIS OWN LIFEClarence Rexford, discharged soldier, died Tuesday morning at the Veteran Hospital in Des Moines as a result of taking lye with suicidal intent. He had received a medical discharge from the army and had come to Brooklyn to visit his wife, the former Doraldine Patten, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Patten. He took the lye on Monday and was rushed to the hospital, but all efforts to save his life were in vain.

TAKES OWN LIFEA former member of the U.S. Army, Clarence Rexford died early Tuesday morning at the Veteran's hospital in Des Moines following an attempt to end his life.
Having recently been granted a medical discharge from the army, Rexford came to Brooklyn to visit his wife, the former Doraldine Patten, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Patten. A day previous to his death, he took lye and was rushed to the hospital. Burial was in Rock Island, Ill.
