RITES TUESDAY

Ernest l. Larsen, 68, of Rte. 2, Grinnell, died Friday evening at Des Moines General Hospital, following an extended illness.

The son of Herman and Lena Alertsen Larsen, he was born Jan. 22, 1905, at Malcom. He received his education in Malcom School No. 9 and Grinnell High School. Following his graduation, he began farming. On June 12, 1932, he was married to Lois Ford at the Methodist Church in Cedar, Iowa. He continued to farm until three years ago when he retired. He lived his entire life on the same farm, which had been in the same family for three generations.

Survivors include his wife, Lois; a son, Duane Larsen of Grinnell; two daughters, Linda Schneider of Des Moines and Susan Criswell of Riverside, Calif.; six grandchildren, Laura and Dawnell Larsen, Kerry, Kelly and Kriss Schneider, and Jennifer Criswell; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Larsen; two sons-in-law, Jerry Schneider and Rod Criswell; three sisters, Mrs. Irene Christianson, Mrs. Louise Neister, and Mrs. Delmar (Mae) Stewart, all of Grinnell; a brother, Don Larsen of Grinnell; two aunts, Mrs. John McIlrath and Mrs. Anna Halstead, both of Grinnell; and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Darrell.

Funeral services for Mr. Larsen will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the James-Schalinske Funeral Home. Elder Dennis Taylor will officiate, and burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.
