DONALD J. "BULL" CRAWFORD

Donald J. "Bull" Crawford, 88, of Grinnell, died Friday, Aug. 29, 2014 at his home.

A funeral service was held at noon, Tuesday, Sept. 2, at Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. Interment was at Sheridan Cemetery, rural Grinnell.

Memorials may be directed to the Donald Crawford Memorial Fund and sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112.

Donald John Crawford was born on Jan. 15, 1926, the son of John and Mary Bureau Crawford in Anthon, Iowa. He was raised and attended school in the area. He honorably served in the United States Army during WWII.

On April 27, 1947, he married Marietta Mary Kriegel in Unionville, Mo., and they had six children. Don worked as a welder for the Donaldson Company for over 37 years, and retired in 1984.

Don was a collector of antiques and enjoyed going to auctions. He spent his free time fishing, camping and farming. Don raced stock cars and loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his children, John Crawford of Clifton Hill, Mo., Jim Crawford of Kellogg, Vicki Russell of Grinnell, Rita Blocker of Malcom and Jerry Crawford of Grinnell; 11 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and his sister, Esther Henning of Newton.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marietta on Sept. 25, 2013; two daughters, Donna and Rosemary; one great grandson; and three brothers, Clark, Dick and PJ Crawford.
