ROLAND DAVIS SERVICES HELD

Roland W. Davis, 64, of 1104 Fourth Ave. E., Oskaloosa, formerly of Grinnell, died Sunday, Aug. 17, at University Hospitals in Iowa City.

Funeral services were conducted at the First Baptist Church in Oskaloosa, with the Rev. Lillian Dean officiating. Masonic services were conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Burial was in Forest Cemetery.

Memorials in Mr. Davis' name may be made to the First Baptist Church or the Homemaker Home Health Care Service.

The son of Davie H. and Glie Dooms Davis, he was born on June 11, 1922, at Beacon. He was a veteran of World War II.

On May 3, 1845, he was married to Alberta M. Corporon in Oskaloosa. He joined the Gibson Stores, working with the chain in Grinnell from 1964 until 1978. Mr. Davis bought the Gambles Store and operated that until moving in 1981 to Hobart, Okla., where he managed a store. The couple returned to Oskaloosa in 1984.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Oskaloosa, the Des Moines Consistory, the Oskaloosa Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, and the Grinnell Vintage Auto Club.

Survivors include his wife, Alberta; a daughter, Janet M. Kool of McCook, Neb.; a son, Randall of Oskaloosa; four grandchildren; one sister, Helen Rinehart; and one niece, Rosemary (Mrs. Gentry McMillian) of Oskaloosa. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Hazel Evans; and two brothers, Harry and Robert.
