ROBERT
VAN WECHEL

Robert Van Wechel, 48, died Sept. 8 at Los Angeles, Calif., from complications of acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS).

He was the son of Charlene and Melvin Van Wechel, former Grinnell residents.

Mr. Van Wechel was founder and owner of VWK Design Consultants, Inc., a design firm well known for developing interior layouts for many supermarket chains in California and Arizona. He previously was a television set designer for various shows, including "The Dean Martin Show."

He is survived by his parents; two brothers, Jerry and Ronald; and a sister, Kay.

A private memorial service was held at his home.
