WAYNE WHITTOM RITES TUESDAY

Wayne Dean Whittom, 36, of 1418 Spencer St., Grinnell, died suddenly Friday evening in Hobbs, N.M., of an apparent heart attack.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with John Epperson, minister of the Grinnell Christian Church, officiating. Organist will be Mrs. Harvey Martindale, and pallbearers will be Donald Beach, Allen Dean, Edwin Dean, August DeVault, Larry McVey and Lonnie Parker. Flowerbearers will be Mrs. John Buchmeier and Mrs. Fern Davis. Burial will be at Hazelwood Cemetery.

The son of Ples and Susie S. Whittom, he was born Sept. 7, 1938, in Lancaser, Mo. He attended the Lancaster public schools. He was a member of the Christian Church in Lancaster. He moved to Grinnell in 1965 and had been employed by Holland Plastics of Gilman, the Standard Oil station, the Grinnell Ambulance Service, and recently served as a bookkeeper at Malcom Stone Co. He had served with the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include his four children, Janet Leigh Whittom, Terry Eugene Whittom, Tammy Sue Whittom and Lila Rae Whittom, all of Marshall, Mo.; and one sister, Jean Farley of Eldon.
