RITES TODAY

Marvel A. Foster, 76, of the Mayflower Home died Friday morning of an apparent heart attack.

Funeral services for Miss Foster were held at 10:30 a.m. today at the Turner Mortuary-East, Cedar Rapids, with Dr. Glenn N. Bender, pastor of the First Congregational Church of Cedar Rapids, officiating. Burial was at Linwood Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Denison Chapel at the Mayflower Home, with the Rev. Philip Ramstad, pastor of the Grinnell United Church of Christ-Congregational, officiating. Organist will be Gladys Holt.

Friends may call the Smith Funeral Home for additional information.

The daughter of Earl and Lottie Foster, she was born Feb. 25, 1902, at Wellman. She moved with her family to Cedar Rapids and was later graduated from Grant High School. She was a 1924 graduate of Coe College.

Miss Foster was associate director of the Jane Boyd Community House in Cedar Rapids for 38 years and was known for her social work in that community.

She was a member of the Cedar Rapids First Congregational Church and had recently transferred her membership to the United Church of Christ-Congregational in Grinnell. She was active in church women's societies and the guild. She was also a member of Chapter D.K. of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, the Methwick Manor Auxiliary, and the Senior Fellowship of St. Paul's Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids, which she had served as president.

Miss Foster was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Everette Foster. There are no immediate survivors.
