JOSEPH H. BILLICK, 88

Joseph H. Billick, 88, Brooklyn, died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002 at Brookhaven Nursing Home.

A funeral was Saturday, Aug. 10, at Grace United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Rogula officiating. Flower attendants were Dean and Betty Lippincott and Jerry and Mary Dale. Casket bearers were Marc Olson, Mathew Olson, Mack Olson, Dean Huls, Melinda Huls, Molly Judy, Joseph Billick, Lori A. Olson, Wendy Olson and Tom Judy. Interment was in Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery with military rites conducted by Francis Gallagher American Legion Post No. 294. A memorial has been established.

Mr. Billick was born Nov. 10, 1913, the son of Irving H. Billick and Anna (Henry) Billick, Brooklyn. He received his education in Brooklyn and went on to serve in the U.S Navy from 1943-45.

On June 20, 1933, he married Esther Rebecca Lineweaver in Brooklyn. In the 1960s, the couple operated an ice cream shop in Brooklyn. From 1965 until his retirement he worked in construction in Iowa City.

He belonged to Grace United Methodist Church and Francis Gallagher American Legion Post No. 294, Brooklyn, and Carpenters Local No. 1260, Iowa City.

Surviving are a daughter, JoAnn (Lloyd) Olson, Brooklyn; a son, Dan (Chieko) Billick of Waipahu, Hawaii; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife; two brothers, Julius Billick and Herbert Billick; three sisters, Neva Lunde, Opal Hockenbury, and Zella Hall; and a granddaughter, Cindy Castro.
