MRS. CALISTA
HAMOR PASSES

Calista Goodrich was born on Dec. 17, 1838, in Linn County, Iowa, and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Chas. Ford, near Malcom, on July 31, 1928, aged 89 years, 7 months and 14 days.

Her mother died when she was 4 years old and she knew the hardships which are sometimes the lot of one who has no mother to care for her. Because of such experiences her sympathy was always with the unfortunate an she was ever ready to help anyone in times of trouble.

She was married in February, 1865, at Mifflin, Wis., to Clarence A. Hamor, who departed this life on Jan. 19, 1908.

In 1867 they migrated by wagon to Poweshiek County, where she has lived ever since, except a year or two spent in California, dying on the farm on which they settled when they came to this county.

About 15 years ago she declared her faith in her Redeemer by joining the Congregational Church at Grinnell, Iowa.

There were born to this union six children, two of whom preceded her in death at an early age. They were James H. and Joseph J.

The four left to mourn her loss are Elizabeth S. Ford, Miranda A. Rivers, Helen M. Spooner and Jesse A. Hamor.

She also leaves seventeen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

While living, her greatest joy was when she had her grandchildren and great grandchildren around her.

Funeral services were held at the home of Chas. Ford on Thursday afternoon conducted by the Rev. George Blagg. Hymns were sung by Mrs. Bouma and Miss Korns. Burial was in Hazelwood.
