Jesse A. Hamor, 94, of Malcom died early Sunday morning, Nov. 24, at Grinnell General Hospital. He had been hospitalized the past five weeks as a result of burns suffered in a fire at his home.

The son of Clarence A. and Calista Goodrich Hamor, he was born Sept. 4, 1880, near Malcom. He attended rural school near the family farm and later graduated with the class of 1898 at Grinnell High School.

On Nov. 20, 1912, he was married to Augusta Helm at Malcom. The couple had three sons, Clarence Hamor of Montezuma, Wade Hamor of Lincoln, Neb., and Paul Hamor of Grinnell. Mr. and Mrs. Hamor had lived on their farm southeast of Grinnell for 36 years before moving to Malcom in 1948.

Mr. Hamor was a member of the Knights of Pythias and the Farmers Union, and he attended the Presbyterian church in Malcom.

Survivors include his wife Augusta, his three sons, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Joseph, and three sisters, Mrs. Charles (Elizabeth) Ford, Mrs. John F. (Miranda) Rivers, and Mrs. L. Will (Helen) Spooner.

Funeral services for Mr. Hamor will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Martin Gruneich, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Montezuma, officiating. Burial will be at Ivy Hill Cemetery, Malcom.
