MEMORIAL SERVICES
FOR MRS. J.S. WILSON
ARE HELD SUNDAY

Memorial services for Mrs. J.S. Wilson were held on Sunday, October 31, 1943, with Dr. P.A. Johnson officiating.

Edna E. Scott, was born in Cook county, Illinois, September 12, 1844, to Louisa Brooks and Alvin Scott, the oldest of four children who lived to maturity. W.A. Scott and M.T. Scott, who lived for many years in Grinnell, were her brothers. She grew up in the midst of a large and happy group of cousins; attended rural school and Cook County Normal School in Blue Island for a short time; and then was a teacher for several years.

The family moved to Henry county, near Geneseo, Ill., and it was there that she was married to John S. Wilson. Their family was composed of a daughter, Maggie B., who passed away in 1909, Alvin D., who died in infancy, Evelyn E., and Lawrence O., of Grinnell.

In 1892 they came to Grinnell where Mrs. Wilson has lived since with the exception of a few years spent in Mason City with her daughter, who was a teacher there. Mr. Wilson was a carpenter during the earlier years of their residence in Grinnell, and many homes and several public buildings still bear witness to his ability as a builder. He passed away April 5, 1917.

Eleven years ago Mrs. Wilson's health broke and since then she has grown more and more feeble until her release on October 29, 1943.

Those from out of the city attending the service included Miss Helen M. Scott, Omaha, Neb.; Miss Laura E. Holly, Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Della Sweet, Appleton, Wis.; Mrs. Bessie Ocheltree, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Beaver and Miss Helen Beaver of Des Moines, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Harris, Bondurant, Iowa, and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Dunn, Kellogg, Iowa.
