Doris Mae Chute, 88, of Carroll died Monday, April 19, 2010, at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.
A funeral service was held Thursday, April 22, at Pleasant Ridge Community Church near Glidden. Burial was Thursday at Sheridan Methodist Church Cemetery, rural Grinnell.
She was born May 31, 1921, in Oskaloosa, the daughter of William and Melvia Warstler Parker, and grew up in Searsboro where she graduated from high school in 1939. She attended the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls after which she taught in elementary schools before attending the University of South Dakota where she earned the Masters Degree in Education.
She was united in marriage with Harold Chute on July 8, 1951, in Grinnell. She moved to Carroll in 1986 to be closer to her family.
She is survived by her daughter Wilma Orlano of Carroll; her brother Don Parker of Malcom; her sister Ruth Gross of Grinnell; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one son Paul.
