The Grinnell (IA) Herald

--The fatal termination of the illness of Mrs. C.C. Keister has brought grief to more than the immediate circle of her family. Growing up in the Sunday and public schools of Grinnell as Miss Lola Jenkins, and winning the hearts of all by her gentleness and sweetness, her untimely death touches with sadness even those who were only accustomed to meet her in the casual intercourse of life. The sweetness and purity of her youth naturally blossomed into the grace and beauty of the Christian woman. Deceased was the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.P. Jenkins of this city and had spent almost her entire life among us. She was born in Elkhart, Indiana June 23, 1865 and four years later removed with her father's family to this place where she had since lived, the light of her home and an ornament of society. She was married Dec. 31, 1885 to Mr. C.C. Keister and leaves behind her a beautiful little daughter almost too young in years to estimate the loss of a most tender mother. As Lola Jenkins she gave early promise of that gentle, earnest, dignified christian womanliness which came to its perfection when she entered the social life of our city as Mrs. Keister. Her beauty of character and her personal accomplishments gave her multitudes of friends not one of whom she ever lost. And yet her highest qualities of mind and heart displayed themselves in her domestic life. Only the dear ones bereaved know or can know how affectionate she was as a daughter, how devoted as a wife, how tender as a mother, how resolute and patient as a sufferer. Let us be glad that God's saints who know how to so sweetly and helpfully live know how to heroically, trustingly die. Funeral services were held at 10 o'clock to-day, at the family residence, under the direction of Rev. M. Bamford, pastor of the M.E. church.
