BETTY RUTH WIDE

Betty Ruth Wide, the daughter of Lula Kirby and James Vaclay Vitera, was born March 5, 1924, in Pleasant Grove Township, Mahaska County, Ia, where she attended Barnes City schools.

Betty was married to Leo Wide and they resided in the Deep River, Ia., area. She worked at various jobs, including a shoe factory, Poweshiek County Care Facility and as a housekeeper.

Betty is survived by one sister Rose Ida Sipe of Glendale, Ariz.; two brothers, Rex Vitera of Manson, Ia., and Jimmy Vitera of Montezuma, Ia.

Betty died Friday, May 12, 1989, at Friendship Manor Care Center in Grinnell, Ia., following a long illness with cancer. She was 65 years of age and was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leo; two brothers: Orville Dean in infancy and Lawrence "Bo" Vitera and one nephew, Anthony R. Vitera.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, May 15, at Watts Funeral Home, Montezuma, Ia. Officiating was Rev. Dennis Dorsheimer, Jackson Church of Christ, Montezuma, Ia. Kathleen Ramsey was organist and Darrell Brand, soloist. Selections were "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art."

Casket Bearers were Bob Vitera, Sally Vitera, Nancy Stephenson, Vera Grasso, Lorita Skelton, Tim Northcutt, and Jeff Hendrickson. Interment was in Golden Rod Cemetery, Deep River, Ia.
