DONALD HOWARD SNOOK

Donald Snook, 76 of Grinnell, passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon, June 30, 2016 at the Grinnell Care Center in Grinnell. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma. Burial will be held in the Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Donald Howard Snook, the son of Lester and Eva (Tish) Snook, was born on October 9, 1939 northeast of Montezuma. He attended Montezuma Community School. Don was a handyman on the farm, bailing hay and detasseling corn. He also worked with Allen Latcham, mowed yards for several people and did whatever job he was asked to do. Don also took care of his mother, Eva, after his father passed away. He enjoyed singing Leroy Vandyke's Auctioneer song, playing guitar, harmonica and the organ, playing cards, going to Rathbun Country Music and also going on vacations. Don was known for giving everyone chocolate covered cherries for Christmas and he also enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews. Don was a member of the Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

He will be missed by his siblings, Gladys Arthur of Pella, Frances Schillenger of Orion, IL, Betty Van Dee of Montezuma, Eldon (Reca) Snook of Grinnell, Keith (Pat) Snook of Parachute, CO and Roy (Kathy) Snook of Parachute, CO; two sisters-in-law, Joan Snook of Searsboro and Betty Snook of Montezuma; 42 nieces and nephews; 86 great- nieces and nephews and 78 great-great nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; four siblings, Lucille Tish, Edward Snook, Floyd Snook, and Willis Snook; sisters-in-law, Eleanor "Ellie" Snook and Phyllis Snook and three brothers-in-law, Keith Arthur, Marion Van Dee and Walt Tish.
