CLARENCE SMITH RITES
SATURDAY AT NEWTON

Services for Clarence Archibald Smith of Waterloo were conducted Saturday, May 4, at the Johnson Funeral Home, Newton, with burial in the Silent City Cemetery at Kellogg.

Mr. Smith, 74, passed away at University Hospital, Iowa City, on Thursday, May 2.

The oldest son of Ellen Jane (McCluskey) Smith and Horatio Smith, he was born March 25, 1894, on a farm near Montezuma.

On Nov. 6, 1915, he married the former Minnie Keeton of Kellogg. They lived in Kellogg until 1930 when they moved to Des Moines where he was employed by the Iowa Packing Co. After retirement, they moved to Waterloo.

Survivors include his wife, Minnie; three daughters, Mrs. Harold (Pauline) Braley of Waterloo, Mrs. Loretta Daurio of Des Moines, Mrs. Galen (Arlene) Morrow of Des Moines; one step-son, Buster Keeton of Waterloo; three grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Ross (Vada) Meldrem of Montezuma.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Harold; and a daughter, Martha Ellen.
