REV. PARSONS DIED IN S. AFRICA

The Rev. John T. Parsons, 62, formerly of Grinnell, died of cancer Jan. 15 in Uitenhage Provincial Hospital in South Africa.

Funeral services were conducted on Jan. 17 in Uitenhage.

Mr. Parsons and his wife, Lou Ann, director of religious education at the United Church of Christ-Congregational in Grinnell during the early 1950's, were missionaries in South Africa since 1954. He served as administrative officer for the Algoa and Kei regions for the United Congregational Church of Southern Africa since 1968.

Mr. Parsons is survived by his wife; two children, Rosemary of Uitenhage and Lawrence of California; and a half-brother, the Rev. Edward K. Heininger of Iowa City.
