SERVICES HELD

Elmer H. Parman, 93, of the Mayflower Home died early Tuesday morning at the Mayflower Health Care Center.

Funeral services for Mr. Parman were held at 10 a.m. today at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Philip J. Ramstad, pastor of the United Church of Christ-Congregational, officiating. Organist was Kathleen Heffner. Pallbearers were Bradd Porter, Ross Porter, Gordon Porter and Jim Westedorf.

Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. at the Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton.

The son of Joseph and Hannah Natzke Parman, he was born Oct. 29, 1884, at Finchford, Iowa. He attended schools in Cedar Falls and later went to watchmaking school in Peoria, Ill. He worked as a watchmaker for his brother in Decorah.

On May 12, 1915, he was married to Alta Ferguson. The couple continued to live in Decorah until 1925. Mr. Parman owned and operated the Chase Jewelry Store in Cedar Falls. He later worked for the Gillam Jewelry Store in Marshalltown and Carter's Jewelry Store in Toledo.

He retired in 1956, and he and his wife moved to Albuquerque, N.M. Mrs. Parman died in 1964, and he moved to the Mayflower Home in 1966.

Survivors include two children, Mrs. Gordon (Jean) Porter of Cedar Falls and Lee F. Parman of Cedar Crest, N.M.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alta; three brothers; and one sister.
