GUNSHOT KILLS VICTOR MAN

The body of a 26-year-old Victor man was found Monday along Bear Creek between U.S. Highway 6 and Brooklyn.

Poweshiek County Medical Examiner Dr. Robert Carney said Dennis Miller, manager of the SIP Lumber Co. of Victor, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The funeral Mass was scheduled for 10:30 a.m. today at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Brooklyn, with the Rev. Karl Holtkamp officiating. Burial was to be at Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn.

The son of William T. and Barbara Richman Miller, he was born July 28, 1953, in Grinnell. On Aug. 2, 1976, he was married to Janice Mary Kriegel. for the past two years, they had lived in Victor.

Survivors include his wife; his parents; one son, Ryan; three brothers, Donald of St. Joseph, Mo., Delmar of West Branch and Duane of the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls; and three sisters, Mrs. David (Sandra) Ley of Lakota, Mrs. Arthur (Sara) McNaul of Des Moines and Susan Miller of the University of Northern Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
