ERNEST JOCHIMS

Ernest H. Jochims, son of Paul Jochims and Eliza nee Repem, died at the Evangelical hospital in Marshalltown at 4 p.m. Wednesday, November 13th. He had suffered a stroke two weeks ago on Thursday night, October 31st.

He was born in Sheridan township, Poweshiek county, on December 21st, 1890. He attended rural schools in that vicinity. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran church in Tama county.

He was a veteran of World War I and served in the 35th Division in France and received his discharge in May 1919.

On June 25th, 1919, he was united in marriage to Eda M. Graff. To this union were born four children, Dorothy who passed away June 23rd, 1956, and Clifford of Tama, Alice, now Mrs. Wilbur Norris of Hamilton, Illinois, and Kathleen, Mrs. Melroy Werner of Tama.

Thirteen grandchildren, Kenneth, Rosemary, Mary and Michael Smith, Gail and Archie Jochims, Janet, Ralph, Diane and Karen Norris, Charles, Barbara and Jerry Werner.

Three brothers, Theodore of Tama, Carl of Fort Dodge, Bernhardt of Gowrie, three sisters, Mrs. Anna Petersen, Bancroft, South Dakota, Mrs. John (Alma) Hansen, Schaller, Iowa and Mrs. Harry (Minnie) Rehberg of Grinnell

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sisrer, Emma Friedrichs, and daughter Dorothy.

He had farmed in Poweshiek and Tama counties and lived east of Tama at the time of his death.

Funeral services were held at St. Paul's Lutheran church at Tama with interment in Maple Grove cemetery, south of Tama. Services were conducted by pastor A.F. Gerstmann at the Mason funeral home at 1:45 and at St. Paul's Lutheran church in Tama at 2 o'clock on Saturday afternoon, November 16.

Mr. Franklin Bro, soloist sang "Rock of Ages," and "Abide With Me." Mrs. Franklin Bro, was the organist.

Floral attendants were Mrs. Earl Pagel, Mrs. Frank Duhacek and Mrs. Donald Baustian.

Casket bearers were Vernon Olsen, Frank Duhacek, Donald Baustian, Earl Pagel, Everett Werner, and Albert Timm.

Military services were in charge of Enright-Schrader Post No. 73, American Legion.

Those attending from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Carl Jochims, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Jochims, Mr. and Mrs. L.O. Ommien of Ft. Dodge, Mr. and Mrs. Bernhardt Jochims, Mrs. Wilbur Wolf, Mrs. Andy Gauwitz and Janean of Gowrie, Mr. and Mrs. Hilles Taylor, Paton, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Friedrichs, Karen and Janice of Manson and Rudolph Graff of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. William Miller and Helen from Melbourne, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wilkie of Marshalltown.
