ALICE LOUISE NORRIS LAND

HAMILTON, ILL.-Alice Louise Norris Land, 78, of Hamilton, Ill., formerly of Keokuk, died Friday, March 18, 2005, in the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

She was born on July 8, 1926, in Grinnell, the daughter of Ernest and Edith Graff Jochims.

On Aug. 21, 1943, she was united in marriage to Wilbur E. "Bill" Norris in San Antonio, Texas. He preceded her in death on April 7, 1973. On Dec. 24, 1975, she married Bernard "Bing" Land in Hamilton. He survives.

Additional survivors include: three daughters, Janet Buehl and her husband, Robert, of Hamilton, Diana Gatzmeyer and her husband, James, of Austin, Texas, and Karen Rupp and her husband, Michael, of Keokuk; a son, Ralph E. Norris of Keokuk; a stepdaughter, Dottie Pillans and her husband, John, of Keokuk, 12 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a step-great-grandchild; a sister, Kathleen Werner of Tama; and several nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by a son in infancy; a stepson, Lee Land; a grandchild, Kristen LeAnn Taylor; a brother, Clifford Jochims; and a sister, Dorothy Smith.

She had been employed at Don Holland Trucking in Keokuk and Union Hall in Carthage, Ill. She and her first husband, Bill, co-owned and operated Norris Auto Sales in Hamilton and O.K. Rubber Welders in Keokuk. She worked with her husband "Bing," driving cabs and semi-trucks. She was a dedicated truck driver and enjoyed being on the road.

She was a member of the Bowling Association and bowled on four leagues. She also enjoyed crocheting and collecting dolls and loved to drink coffee with her friends.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, with the Rev. John Heath officiating.

Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Keokuk.

Visitation is today at the funeral home, with family meeting with friends from 7 to 9 p.m.
