STEPHEN R. JASCH

The Rev. Stephen R. Jasch, 54, of Grinnell died Monday, Jan. 22, 2007, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

A funeral service for Pastor Jasch will be held Friday, Jan. 26, at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Grinnell with the Rev. Dr. Philip L. Hougen, bishop of the Southeast Iowa Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, officiating. Organist will be Margaret Amo and Cheryl Irland. Vocalists will be Roger and Lisa Henderson and the St. John's Lutheran Choir. Pallbearers will be Gary Cook, Kenneth Dalldorf, Fred England, Norm Erickson, Bob Falck, Victor Frana and Don Sundell. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

A funeral service also will be held Tuesday, Jan. 30, at Grace Lutheran Church in Fargo, N.D. Burial will take place in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Fargo.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church.

He was born May 23, 1952, in Fargo, the son of Virgil and Margie Stenberg Jasch. He was raised in Fargo and was a 1970 graduate of Fargo South High School. He was also a graduate of Concordia Senior College in Fort Wayne, Ind., and Christ Seminary-Seminex, St. Lois, Mo. He was ordained in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, in 1981, and was a pastor for 16 years in two separate parishes in Nova Scotia, churches of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Canada.

He was married on July 21, 1984, to Rebecca Morrill at Grace Lutheran Church, Auburn, Maine. They moved to Grinnell in June, 1995, and he was installed as pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church on Sept. 3, 1995.

He was a member of the Grinnell Ministerial Association.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca of Grinnell; one daughter, Anna of Grinnell; his parents, Virgil and Margie Jasch of Fargo; and one brother, Keith Jasch of Plymouth, Minn. He was preceded in death by one sister, Nancy in infancy.
