CHARLES CALDERWOOD, 65

Charles Calderwood, 65, of Brooklyn, passed away to his heavenly home on Thursday, June 23, 2005, at Brookhaven Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.

He was born on December 20, 1939, to Andrew (Pat) and Helen (McKeag) Calderwood in Grinnell.

His schooling was received in Brooklyn where he graduated with the class of 1958 where he had many fond memories.

On September 8, 1962, he married Judy Henle in St. Patrick's Church, Brooklyn.

Charlie farmed and was a mechanic on the family farm the majority of his life. He was a charter member of the Brooklyn Ambulance Service and served many years on the Brooklyn Fire Department. Charles was in the Army Reserves for five-and-a-half years. Another favorite of his was visiting the residents of Brookhaven every Sunday.

Charlie enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and going on a ride with his brother. He loved going to Midwest Old Threshers and working on and driving his antique tractors.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Brooklyn. He was proud to be a member of the Corinthian Lodge #174 AF and AM and Kaaba Shriners.

Surviving are his wife Judy; their children, Laura and Rob Tibbetts, Kimberly and Robert Irlbeck, all of Oakland, Calif., and Erick Calderwood of Brooklyn; seven grandchildren, Jacob, Mollie and Scott Tibbetts, Vaughn and Joseph Irlbeck, Morgan Collum and Christian Calderwood; and his brother, James, of Brooklyn.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, William James.

He will be missed by his family and friends.

Memorial services for Charlie Calderwood were held at 11 a.m., Monday, June 27, at the First Presbyterian Church, Brooklyn. The Rev. John Reynolds, pastor, officiated, and the musician was Anedra Sherwood. Musical selections were "Here I am, Lord," "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Amazing Grace." Masonic Rites were conducted by Corinthian Lodge #174 AF and AM.

A memorial fund has been established.

Nevenhoven Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.
