CALVIN DEMING, 67
FORMER RESIDENT,
DIES IN CALIFORNIA

Calvin Deming, 67, former Grinnell resident and past Director of Admissions at Grinnell College, died Sept. 17th at his home in Arcadia, Calif., following an extended illness.

Deming was an alumnus of St. Thomas and Carleton colleges. Early in his career he was a member of the Minnesota Legislature where he served as chairman of the committee on education and authored the first Teachers Tenure bill of that state.

Prior to his retirement five years ago, he was in real estate development in Arcadia.

Survivors include his wife, Muriel; two daughters, Mrs. Betti P. Sleeter of Arcadia and Mrs. Ernest F. Wuthmann Jr. of Palo Alto, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
